1. Acceptance
By creating an account on the ConvertKr developer portal, generating an API key, or sending a request to the ConvertKr API (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
ConvertKr provides an HTTP API for PDF and image processing — including merging, splitting, compressing, watermarking, form filling, OCR, format conversion, and related operations. The Service is documented at /docs and accessed by sending authenticated HTTP requests with files in the request body.
Files are processed in memory on our servers and the result is returned in the response body. We do not persist input files or output files to disk. See our Privacy Policy for details.
3. Account & API keys
3.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Service.
3.2 Account information
You agree to provide accurate, current information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and any API keys issued to your account.
3.3 API key security
API keys grant full access to your account's credits. Treat them as secrets — never embed them in client-side code, public repositories, or mobile apps. You are responsible for all usage and credit consumption performed with your API keys, whether authorized or not. Rotate or revoke any key you believe may have been compromised from the API Keys page.
4. Plans, credits & billing
4.1 Credit-based pricing
The Service is metered in credits. Each successful API call consumes a fixed number of credits based on the endpoint, as published on the Pricing page. We may update per-endpoint credit costs from time to time; changes take effect prospectively and do not retroactively re-charge calls you have already made.
4.2 Credit packs
You may purchase credits in the following packs:
- Starter — 1,000 credits for $9 (try it out).
- Pro — 10,000 credits for $49 (most popular).
- Scale — 50,000 credits for $199 (for production workloads).
Prices are listed in US dollars and do not include applicable taxes, which will be added at checkout where required.
4.3 Free credits
New accounts receive 50 free credits on signup so you can evaluate the Service. Free credits carry no monetary value, are non-transferable, and may be revoked if we detect abuse (e.g. multiple accounts created to bypass usage limits).
4.4 Credit consumption
Credits are deducted only on a successful API response (HTTP 2xx). Calls that fail with HTTP 4xx or 5xx — including validation errors, rate-limit responses, and server errors — are free and do not deduct credits. Every credit movement (purchase, consumption, refund, manual adjustment) is recorded in an append-only ledger which you can inspect from the Credits page.
4.5 Credits never expire
Purchased credits do not expire as long as your account remains in good standing. If your account is closed by you or terminated by us under Section 9, unused credits are forfeited except where a refund is required by law or expressly granted under Section 4.6.
4.6 Refunds
Credit purchases are non-refundable except in the following cases:
- Within 14 days of purchase: if you have consumed fewer than 10% of the credits in the pack, you may request a full refund by emailing support@convertkr.com.
- Service downtime: if the Service is unavailable for an extended period that materially prevents your use, we may at our discretion issue a pro-rated refund or credit.
- Billing errors: duplicate charges or charges made in error will be refunded in full once verified.
Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for all purchases — they collect payment, handle applicable VAT/sales tax, and issue refunds on our behalf. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days; the receipt and invoice you receive from Lemon Squeezy is the primary tax document.
4.7 Taxes
You are responsible for any sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar taxes that apply to your purchase, in addition to the listed price. Where we are required to collect such taxes, they will appear on your invoice.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Process content that is illegal, infringes intellectual property rights, or violates the privacy or publicity rights of any person.
- Generate, distribute, or store malware, phishing pages, sexual content involving minors, or content that incites violence or harassment.
- Circumvent technical measures, rate limits, or credit accounting (including by operating multiple accounts to abuse free credits).
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to derive the source code or underlying models of the Service.
- Resell the Service or expose ConvertKr API keys publicly as if the API were your own service, without a separate written agreement.
- Use the Service in a manner that could disrupt, overload, or impair its operation for other users.
We may, without prior notice, throttle, suspend, or terminate access — or remove access to specific endpoints — if we believe your use violates these Terms or threatens the integrity of the Service.
6. Rate limits & availability
The Service applies per-account rate limits to protect availability for all users. Limits and current status are published in our documentation. We may adjust limits from time to time; we will make a reasonable effort to notify accounts that are materially affected.
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not provide a formal Service Level Agreement (SLA) on standard plans. Enterprise customers may request a separate written SLA.
7. Your content
You retain all rights to the files you send to the Service. You grant ConvertKr a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to receive, process, and transmit your files solely to provide the requested operation and return the result to you.
We do not write input or output files to disk, and we do not use customer content to train models or for any purpose other than fulfilling the request.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, its underlying software, documentation, branding, and all related intellectual property are owned by ConvertKr or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms do not grant you any right or license to ConvertKr trademarks or branding.
9. Suspension & termination
You may close your account at any time from the Dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, fail to pay amounts owed, or use the Service in a way that creates legal risk for ConvertKr or its users. We will, where reasonable, give you notice and an opportunity to cure before terminating.
On termination, your access to the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including payment obligations, IP, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CONVERTKR AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID CONVERTKR IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR USD $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ConvertKr from any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify active customers by email and update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ConvertKr is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
